Is He Interested In Me? The Body Language Of The Eyes

The old saying... "the eyes are the window to the soul", is 100% true.

The eyes DO reveal a lot about what a person is thinking. If you want to know if a guy is interested in you, then understanding the body language of eye contact is the first place to start...

There are 2 main types of eye contact to look for- direct and flickering...

Direct (and lingering) contact shows that a guy is interested in you. He is probably quite confident, and if you show any interest back, then you shouldn't be surprised if he approaches you and starts flirting!

Flickering contact is also a sign of interest, but can also be a sign that he is a little shy. You will probably have to make the first move, because he may be too nervous to approach you.

However, if the man in question studiously avoids meeting your eye or glares at you then the likelihood is that he is not taking kindly to your presence. It may be that he has already formed an opinion about you that is negative, that he is unavailable for another reason or simply that he just does not want to talk to you. There is another thing to check for, but for this you will have to be up close to the man...

Look carefully into his eyes, and check how wide his pupils are. When men (and women), are aroused, their pupils become dilated. This is totally subconscious, which makes it a great thing to check for.

Eye contact is a good way of judging whether or not you are getting a positive or negative response from your man, but like all body language, should not be used in isolation. You need to check all of his body language to get a true sense of what he is thinking.

His hand gestures, general demeanour, his facial expressions (Ideally he should be smiling during the eye contact), are all important too, and as you learn more about body language, you will find reading men easier and easier. But while your starting, the eyes are a great place to start, and should give you a good idea about what the man in question thinks about you.

Good luck!

Body Language Doesn't Lie - 10 Ways To Tell If That Man Is Truly Interested In You

Ladies, how often have you wondered if he has a true romantic interest in you or is it just a passing fancy? Is he looking at me or just staring over my head? Did you know that it's relatively easy to tell if a guy is truly interested in you? While not all men are easy to read, some of their noticeable - and not so noticeable - tendencies can give away their true feelings.

In fact, here are 10 ways to tell if he is truly interested in you:

  1. Is he nervous around you? If so, he is probably eager to please you. His nerves belie an intention not to "screw up" in front of you. So take notice of whether or not he is nervous - a sure way to tell if he is interested in you.
  2. Check out his body language - he may SAY one thing... but what does he DO? Does he tend to stand or sit close to you? Does he touch you affectionately? Does he seem to brighten up and smile more when you're together?
  3. Does he find excuses to be close you or talk to you? Does he show an interest in your life? If he seems to truly care about what is going on in your life and your hopes and dreams, that's a way to tell if he is truly interested.
  4. Do you find him staring at you? While it might be disconcerting at times, trust me - this is often a dead give-away that he's into you.
  5. Is he hanging on your every word? Does he start talking about subjects he's unlikely to be interested in? If you find he is voicing opinions, which he may not even agree with just to be in agreement with you..., you can be sure that he is truly interested in you.
  6. How does he act around you and how do his friends act when you are there? Do they tease him and smile pleasantly? If his friends are affectionately teasing him, you can be sure that THEY know he's interested in you... especially if he smiles and is suddenly lost for words!
  7. Does he give "the look"? Does he look at you intently from head to toe taking in every part and then hold your gaze? This goes beyond staring - this is the gaze of someone who has fallen head over heels for you.
  8. Does he just show up? Does he find a way to be where you are when you least expect it? If so, you're seeing a person who is spontaneous, thoughtful and has YOU on his mind. No question, he wants to not only be with you, but to be there FOR you.
  9. Does he call you just because he was thinking about you? Someone who isn't interested would NEVER do that, so obviously the guy truly digs you.
  10. Does he do small unexpected things to surprise you? Flowers or chocolates for no particular reason... little gifts you are bound to enjoy... taking you out on surprise outings... these are all ways to tell that he truly is interested in you.

Finally, one more way to know if he's truly interested in you: your gut! What is it telling you? Deep down, if you feel as though he's fallen for you, you are probably right. Now don't rush out there and blurt out your feelings too. Relax and discover what else you need to do.

When You Negotiate - Match Your Message And Body Language

By Greg Williams Platinum Quality Author

One cold wintry night, a business associate pulled into a gas station to fill his Mercedes with gas. While waiting, an average dressed man approached his vehicle; the man had a small gas can in his hand. The man very politely told my associate he and his mother were driving to a location close by and they ran out of gas. He told my associate he only had $1.10. He stated he was not a beggar. He further stated that the gas station attendant, in the gas station located across the street, told him he'd give him a gallon of gas if he had $2.78. So, the man asked my associate if he would please give him $1.68. My associate, who is also a very astute interpreter of body language, observed the man's hands in an up turned manner, which indicates openness, and the sincerity in the man's speech and mannerisms.

With everything being in sync, the man's words and body language, my associate gave the man $2. The man thanked my associate and then scampered off into the darkness, in the direction of the gas station across the street. When the gas station attendant that was filling my associate's car returned, he told my associate, "that man comes into this gas station every night asking people for money and giving them the same story."

... and so it goes.

What lessons can be learned from this situation?

1. While there were several cars getting gas at the same time as my associate, the man only approached one car. It can thus be assumed that the man chose someone (my associate was driving a Mercedes) that appeared to be in a position to give him what he wanted.

When you negotiate make sure you're dealing with the person or people that have the authority and ability to grant you what you seek.

2. After the man received $2 from my associate, he exited the area.

When you negotiate and you've closed the deal, leave the environment as soon as you can politely do so. The longer you stay in the environment the greater the possibility that someone may bring up a point that was discussed during the negotiation and the higher the probability will become that they may want to reexamine that point more thoroughly.

3. When you negotiate, make sure your body language is aligned with your actions (the man with the gas can could have won an Oscar for his performance). His words, actions and demeanor were all in sync with his body language.

People pick up non verbal signals you send when negotiating. At times they may not be aware of what they perceive, but their perception will more than likely be manifested in their actions. They may sense subliminally, that they like or dislike you and not be able to point to why they have that feeling. More than not, the feeling will stem from the conveyance of your actions.

4. When you negotiate and you feel as though you received the short end of the stick, learn from the experience in an attempt not to let it happen in the future.

My associate vowed he'd never be outmaneuvered like that again. He said for $2 he learned a lesson that will save him thousands of dollars as he negotiates in the future.

When you negotiate don't assume everything is as it appears. Verify your perception by observing other aspects of the negotiation and the environment that you're in. If you sense something is not right, don't ignore your feelings. It's better to miss an opportunity than to rush into one and later find out you've been 'taken'.

Once you put everything into its proper perspective during negotiations you will be in a better position to achieve your goal ... and everything will be right with the world.

The negotiation lessons are ...

  • When you negotiate, inject thoughts and images into the negotiation that will invoke emotions and make them believable. In the man's story with the gas can, he spoke of running out of gas while he and his mother were traveling. No one would want their mother in that position and thus another person would be more likely to assist someone that was in that position. The more believable your story the more likely it will be believed and thus the greater the probability you'll receive what you seek.
  • During the negotiation be as specific as the situation requires. Justify why you're seeking what you want. The more specific you can be and justify your needs/wants, the more likely you are to receive them. (The man asked for $1.68 to complete what he needed for the gas.)
  • When negotiating, the more succinct your verbal message, body language, demeanor, and props (style of dress, accessories, environment in which you negotiate, etc.), the greater the probability you'll be met with success. Make sure you dress the part you're portraying. As an example, if you claim not to have a lot of money, don't negotiate while wearing a Rolex.

Body Language - Using "Mirroring" To Make A Man Subconsciously Like You

By Peta Fletcher Platinum Quality Author

Did you know that there are certain ways to react to men, that will instantly make them like you more?

Or that there are body language techniques you can use to make a man way more relaxed around you?

I've done extensive research into body language, and it has revealed some very interest information about reacting to body language.

But before I get into that, I'd like to quickly discuss the power of "similarity".

As you know, one of the keys to successful relationships in life is being similar to your partner.

We generally like people who are similar to us. We like people with similar interests, similar taste in music, and similar experiences in life.

If someone seems to be like us, then we automatically like them more.

Obviously then, anything we can do to make ourselves seem more similar to someone, will make them like us more.

And my research has revealed a great body language technique that uses this fact to make people like you more, without them even realizing it's happening!

As I mentioned above, I've studied a LOT of material on body language. Most the time it doesn't reveal anything new, but sometimes my extensive research reveals some true gems... body language secrets that make all my time spent researching worthwhile.

I found one of these body language secrets in some some very interesting studies I came across. These studies were done by many different researchers studying the effects of body posture (Some of the notable studies include a 1985 study by Marianne LaFrance and a 1990 study by Locke and Horowitz).

When you decipher through all the scientific mumbo jumbo in these studies, they reveal something which is quite fascinating...

If you match someone else's body language, they will automatically like you more!

I couldn't believe this at first when I read it, but it's true! If you alter your body language to "match", or "mirror" someone else, they automatically seem to like you more!

Now, you have to get this right.

The studies don't really mention this but you have to mirror in a specific way. I've tried this "mirroring" technique in multiple real-life situations, and there is definitely a right, and a wrong way, to mirror someone's body language.

If you do it too much, it becomes too obvious. They will think you are mimicking them, and will not be impressed! You have to do it in a way that the person you are mirroring doesn't actually notice.

My own "experiments" have shown that the best way to do it is to wait around 45 seconds, and then subtly alter my posture to suit the person I'm mirroring.

Let me give you an example...

Suppose you are talking to a man, and you are both sat at a table.

During the conversation, he leans forward, and puts his hands on the table.

When you notice this, wait about 45 seconds, and "mirror" his body language.

ie: YOU then lean forward, and put your hands on the table.

Later if he leans back, you wait around 45 seconds, and lean back as well.

If he tilts his head, you do the same... about 45 seconds later.

I think you get the idea...

Now, the timing doesn't have to be exactly 45 seconds! Don't start trying to count 45 seconds, or you will be too distracted. Just try and estimate when 30 seconds to a minute has gone past, and then mirror his movement.

This is an easy technique, but it's very powerful.

And you can use it in all sorts of situations including:

  • Dating
  • Arguments
  • Meetings
  • Interviews

It works great on men, but also works on females as well. It's an all-round useful technique, that is great for making people subconsciously like you more.

Give it a go, I'm sure you'll like the results!
