Skin care for men needs to take into account the differences between men and women.
A man's anti wrinkle product doesn't have to be something entirely different, but needs to deal with some facts. Maybe most important, men's skin is particularly prone to inflammation.
Why is that?
Well, some of it might be in our genes. A woman's skin has more fat just under the surface, for example, which is one reason a woman's body looks curvy -- and feels softer than a man's. There are other differences we're born with, that affect our skin. However...
The biggest cause of inflammation is very likely how a man behaves. A certain amount of macho behavior appeals to a lot of women, but it can be terrible for a man's skin. At worst, you'd think a "real man" never even heard of skin care for men. And of course, he won't pay any attention to sunburn, windburn, irritation and dried-out skin.
Well, he will if he doesn't want to look 20 years older by the time he turns 40!
Even at best, a man often ignores minor skin dryness, abrasions and irritation that women will routinely take care of. Most men shave every day, and they often just rinse and dry afterward, doing nothing to moisturize.
How foolish is that? Guys, listen to me: applying a moisturizer for men is a very cool thing to do -- and the women in your life will love the results!
A man's skin inflammation often gives itself away in redness. But not always. Other signs of inflammation are chronic dryness, bags under the eyes, premature wrinkles and color variations.
So a good man's anti wrinkle product must halt and reverse inflammation. To be technical just for a moment, it must reduce production of Prostaglandin E2 (or PGE2) in the body: this is the major biochemical pathway that leads to inflammation in the skin.
So look for a men's skin care product that promises to block PGE2 production -- and tells you exactly what ingredients do this.
I'll mention a great one, on the cutting edge of modern technology in skin care for men:
Cynergy TK is a very recent ingredient that reduced PGE2 by up to 70 percent in a controlled clinical study. That's a dramatic reduction in inflammation.
In clinical studies, Cynergy TK also:
-- Reduced redness associated with inflammation, and reduced fine lines and wrinkles.
-- Showed a sustained improvement of 14 percent in skin moisture retention, and a startling 42 percent improvement in skin elasticity, both over 18 days.
-- Stimulated production of the body's natural antioxidants.
-- And stimulated the production of collagen and elastin, essential structural proteins for the skin that we tend to lose as we get older -- which led to greater growth of new skin cells.
Cynergy TK is included in every product that I believe is today's best skin care for men.
